English 1302 Week 8

This week in the readings for The Tempest of act 4, scene 1, Ferdinand and Miranda’s wedding is closing in and is about to happen. In the moment of all the happiness, Prospero is reminded by Ariel that Caliban is still coming to murder him, alongside Trinculo and Stephano. To slow them down, Prospero and Ariel set up a trap for the 3 men to steal some nicely laid out expensive clothing, which works. This week I learned a little more about the type of person Prospero is.

This week I used rhetoric when talking to my friends over the Xbox about which game was best to play during the whole lockdown. I said Call of Duty, and some of my friends said OverWatch. It turned into an argument as I tried to convince them that Call of Duty was way better than Over Watch during the Covid-19 break.

The covid-19 virus has caused the school to shut down for a few weeks until further notice and it has also caused restaurants to move their dine-in to just take-out. People are taking serious precautions in an attempt to not get sick such as staying home and not going out in public. Tempest relates to this situation when Ferdinand and Miranda wish to forever live on the island and not have to see anybody else. The government is using logos to tell people to stay home because if they don’t they could get sick with the coronavirus.
